Students may choose from any of the stories we have studied this semester in Grade 1. (Ox Helps, Animal Park, A Big Fish for Max, Who Works Here?, The Big Circle, Life in the Forest, Honey Bees)

Topic: My Favorite Reading Street Story

Some ideas to help you with your speech:

1.  Give a brief recap of what the story was about.

2.  Why did you like this story?

3.  How would you change the story?

4.   If you could add more to the story, what would happen?

5.  Share some new vocabulary words you learned from this story.

6. Use the “Think Critically” pages at the end of each story from the Reading Street textbook.

Students will be marked on the following categories:

·        Pronunciation- pronounces words correctly with intonation (not like a robot)

·        Clarity- speaks clearly and distinctly, volume and fluency are excellent

·        Content/Preparation- topic is prepared and rehearsed

·        Vocabulary- uses a variety of vocabulary words (no Chinese!)

·        Questions- is able to understand and respond to questions in sentences.

Good morning/afternoon, my name is                                 .

The story I have chosen is called                                           . The story is about                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       .

I liked this story because                                                                                                                                    .

I would change the story by                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          .

I would add to the story by                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             .

Some vocabulary words from the story are                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   .
