Dear Parents,

Hello and a warm welcome to English class 103+104I. My name is Mr Alan Cooper and I will be having the pleasure of teaching your child this year.

Homework will be set each night Monday-Thursday with occasional review over the weekend. Your child will copy their homework assignments in their communication book each day during class. The day’s homework can also be found in the English Class Blog. Homework will include spelling activities, vocabulary practice, home reading and completing other assignments that enhance the learning taking place in the classroom.  Please check your child’s assignments  daily, but allow him or her to take responsibility for doing the work.   Class blog is:   https://xinmincooper1.blogspot.com/

Students’ grades will be based on formal and informal assessments, which may include observations,  quizzes, tests, and projects.  Please recognize our need for assessment flexibility to ensure students’ mastery of the subject areas. Please refer to the communication book or stay tuned for our parent-teacher orientation session for more details about assessment and reporting.

In order to make this year as successful as possible for your child, we need to work together and establish mutual goals.  We will have a formal conference this spring to discuss your child individually.  For additional concerns, please contact me directly via e-mail. Email is the best form of contact as teachers are busy with the general business of a school day.

I am grateful for your support as we begin the teaching and learning journey together. Your support makes all the difference and I thank you in advance. I look forward to building a successful partnership with you over the school year!

Sincerely,

Mr Alan Cooper
